Q: My son has turned in all his paperwork for Eagle. What step is next?
A: Each district in Buckeye Council conducts their Eagle Board of Review. Your son will receive a letter with information on the date, time and location for his Eagle Board of Review. It is suggested you make “tentative plans” for the Eagle Court of Honor until after the Eagle Board of Review.
Q: Who plans the Eagle Court of Honor?
A: Our Troop has a tradition that the family plans the Eagle Court of Honor. The Troop has a book with several ceremonies for your use. Also you will want to schedule a meeting with the Advancement Chair and Scoutmaster to discuss ideas. We want you to make this special day your own and tailor it to your tastes.
Q: How elaborate should it be?
A: The Eagle Court of Honor can be as elaborate or as simple as your family and Eagle Scout wants it to be. There have been buffet dinners and there has been cake and punch. It is really up to you and your desires.
Q: Where should we have the Eagle Court of Honor?
A: You may have the Eagle Court of Honor at any location of your choosing. Church of the Lakes is always a good choice, as the chartering organization. You will need to contact the church office and schedule the appropriate rooms for the event. You may also have it at your own church. Make sure to send invitations to your guests well in advance.
